Teri's Story

Terishook@aol.com

My name is Teri. I am 40 years old and married. I have two children, Megan is 7 and Kevin is 9. Two years ago I started to have many symptoms that my Dr. at the time could not find a reason for. Eventually I was diagnosed with
Lymes Disease. After a few months a rheumatologist told me that I did not
have Lymes, even though my blood test had been positive for it. He said I had
Fibromyalgia. His treatment was to exercise and lose weight. That was the
last time I saw him. My own Dr. told me that FMS was just a name they gave to someone when there was no reason for their aches and pains. For the next year I suffered with pain that at times was unbearable. I would come home from work and lay on the couch while my husband, Kenny did everything around the house. He was very supportive and loving.

Recently I changed Doctors, and my new Dr. took FMS very seriously. He put me on Celebrex, Glucasomine and Zoloft. It has helped quite a bit. I just found
a support group on the Internet, and I want to find out all I can about this
disease. I am so frustrated by medical professionals who don't even believe
it exists. I am not depressed yet, but my Dr. said that the Zoloft helps the
symptoms of FMS itself. Why? I am looking for more information.

My kids are so young, I need to be able to do the things that I want to do
for them. My Dr. said that I should exercise moderately, a woman I know who
also has FMS was told not to exercise, because her muscles won't rebuild
themselves. I am just very confused and wish that I could get the right
answer.
